Basicly everyone talks about it never seen it just heard of it is it a good game whats so bad ass about it is it worth money? How much money we talking 50 bucks or so or cheaper well can anyone send me some screen shots or tell me were some are is there a demo i can try out thanks guys

You need Half life game to play it. Counter-Strike is a Half Life Mod.

i heard nowadays, you can buy CS without the halflife game, i heard it somewhere , i could be wrong

Nope your right BUT Mostly everyone Gets half life, then downloads CS. If you buy Cs, for some reason most of the guns are named differently, and I hear it has console problems. Then during a game if someone talkes about a gun, you dunno wtf there talking about cuz ur guns are named differently. Id say 85% of the people buy Half Life then download CS.

But for all I know After you buy it and Update it online, it might fix all of that. Or in the CS 1.1 retail, might be totaly fixed, I dunno, just goin by what I hear.

Anyways, If you go Buy CS Retail, Ok you got CS and thats it.

If you buy Half life, there are a whole Bunch of cool Mods for the game. I got Half Life (Rocket Launcher Guns...etc) Counter Strike (Awesome Graphics, Great sound quaility, TOTALY a different game, realistic) DoD (Day of defeat) a WWII Mod, another sweet mod. And I also Got AHL (action halflife mod)

Now I baught Half life for $25, and I got all these Free mods people make. Each mod totaly turns half life into a new game. So pretty much I paid $25 for half life, and downloaded 3 other free games with it.

Oh by the way, If you buy HL, You get TFC free with it too

Im pretty sure if you Buy CS retail, you cant download other mods for HL.

Btw, the CS Retail comes with Halflife and TFC. The difference between Halflife "Game of the year Edition" and CS Retail is that the CS Retail includes the popular Counterstrike mod. So buying the Cs Retail can save you 5 precious minutes(if you have broadband connection) from downloading the 85MB CS mod. In either version(HL or Cs Retail), you can still download other great mods such as Dod or Action Halflife(AHL). I'm really enjoying AHL right now hehe, great MOD!

I know you can get TFC without HL but not sure about CS. I don't know the difference between the one in the shops and the one on the web!!!!!!! If anyone can answer that question I will be greatful

TFC and CS are modifications(Mods). If you like, you can say CS is an add on for Halflife. You need Halflife in order to play TFC, CS or any other Halflife mods. The one you see on the web is the CS mod only. You can't play CS if you don't have halflife installed.
The CS Retail you see in stores comes with Halflife, TFC, and CS.

Others may disagree with me on this, but I think your best value is looking for HalfLife Game of the Year Edition. CompUSA around here had it on sale for ten bucks recently (with a rebate I think). I bought this 2 years ago (or so)and it has all you need to download and run TFC, CS, DoD, Action HL and more. I have seen CounterStrike stand alone for sale, but I don't see what it has that I haven't gotten for free. (Except that Old West single player mod) So if you ask me one of the best things about these games is that playing them is cheap. The Single Player, the Multiplayer, and each of the mods are as good as going out and buying $30-$50 new retail games. Can't beat that with a stick... or a crowbar for that matter.

The one variable here is your download speed. If it takes you hours to download each mod file, then you might want to blow $30 on the retail Counter Strike. Or $65 on the Half Life Platinum. Or if you want to throw some cash to the guys who created CS out of homage to them.

Everyone is talking about Counter strike, but no one has actually described it. So here goes.

It is a mod for half-life ( an awsome first person shooter game on its own!!) It is a multiplayer game only, either through LAN, but mostly online.

There are 2 teams, 1 = terrorist 2 = Counter Terrorist. There are tons of maps that you play on, with new ones being made and added from all over.

Regardless of team you start off with a gun and a small amount of bullets, and $800. You have the option of buying more equipment. GUNS, AMMO, GERNADES, KEVLAR, AND OTHER SUPPLIES. guns are separated into sub catagories = PISTOLS, SHOTGUNS, SMG(small machine guns), RIFLES(m16 ak47 and sniper rifles + others), MACHINE GUNS. Naturally the better the gun the more it costs. If your team wins you get more money than if you loose.

Way to win are: (Not the same on all maps)
HOSTAGES: There are hostages on the map. T's (Terrorists) start on the map with the hostages, and have to keep the CT's (Counter terrorists) from saving them, OR kill all CT's
CT's save all hostages by escorting them to rescue point, OR kill all T's
BOMB SITE: T's start off with a pack of c4. They have to plant the bomb at one of two bomb sites and make sure the bomb detonates(~30 sec. timer then boom). OR KIll all the CT's
CT's have to prevent the T's from planting the bomb or if the bomb gets planted then to disarm the bomb before it blows up. OR kill all the T's
VIP: T's have to kill the VIP(one of the ct players) or kill all the CT's (therefore the first is filled)
CT's have to protect the VIP at all costs. all CT's can die as long as VIP gets away(usually to a chopper) OR they can kill all the T's thus saving the VIP.

IT ROCKS CS IS AN AWSOME GAME!

It is in fact (my opioion =') the best game-mod ever made. Hell, its a mod that went retail. Does that say enough. The physics of the game are unreal. Player models and animation are pretty damn awesome.A bad ass feature of the game i feel is how they manage to incorperate recoil into the guns. Each gun acting in a different manner. Takes extreme skill to play. Cant go at it as you would in a DM stlye game. Youll be sitting the round out staring at campers for 3 minutes. HEHE Need to use sounds and radar to take full advantage over your enemy.

Sure does! I LOVE CS! I played Rogue Spear for a year and a half and I havent touched it since, CS Rules! BEST swat/team game EVER!

When I am not playing FOT I am playing CS. I love tactical squad games whether they are in 2D, 3D, or 10D.

Doesnt matter to me.

i think everybody forgot to mention if you buy cs retail you get a bunch of single player stuff. Like the training mode. I bought hl 2 years ago for 50$ when it was the game of the year and then d/l the other mods. Now if you do choose to buy hl then d/l the cs you have to be aware of two things. 1 your obviously gonna need to d/l cs which ver1.1 is 85meg or so and two you need to d/l the hl updates. I would d/l them from here. Dont try and do the update it comes with theres always been a problem with that. the best mod ever made
