Do some Googling...you'll many similar issues from others that tried Win7 on Intel integrated graphics. Intel apparently hasn't released drivers for Win7 yet...but are planning on it.Joe wrote:Win 7 reports it as 'Standard VGA adapter" Not intel anything. Suppose the only option is to keep checking Microsoft updates....Intels site probably won't have them avail til Win7 is officially released.

why don't you just skip the onboard graphics and drop yourself in a cheap little nvidia card to a pci express slot or AGP?Joe wrote:Can anyone find me the Vista drivers for the 915 graphics.. Its a laptop. But I just found those XPDM drivers i was looking for on HP's website. They installed fine but using the manual process. Will install a game and see the framerate difference from XP.Sava700 wrote:why don't you just skip the onboard graphics and drop yourself in a cheap little nvidia card to a pci express slot or AGP?

win 7 intel 915 driver solved
Official windows 7 driver for 915 chipset is at Windows Update Catalog.
Use this one, forget tricks and unofficial things.
Navigate with IE8 to here
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx
and install plugin. Then type Intel Intel 915GM
Then go to device manager, update driver, Select the option to "Search for Drivers on my Computer" and point it to where you downloaded the file. Then "Manually Select a Driver" Finally Select Display Adapters and the 915 Driver is there

One more step
This works like a champ if you first take the time to extract the data from the .cab file that you downloaded, and THEN go to device manager, etc.invilink87 wrote:Official windows 7 driver for 915 chipset is at Windows Update Catalog.

When you download the file that invilink87 has pointed us to you get a folder with a .cab file in it. Navigate to the .cab file and double-click it to open it, then CTRL-A to "select all," and finally right-click any selected entry and choose "Extract." Create another folder named something like "Intel915 unpacked" and that folder is what you use when you go to device manager, etc.
Thanks invilink87 for the find. I've been looking through that frustrating and poorly executed Intel website for hours trying to find the link you gave us.
