Duke Nukem forever "Done"?

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

Done as is....all over, no more development...3DRealms shut down cuz ran out of funding...?

Or just some more publicity stunts to stir interest and buy more time?

hardly think so... I wrote something up about this yesterday. Take-Two still owns publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever....so it will continue and be released. But I'm sure someone will help out 3D Realms at some point.

And your 2nd URL is dead with a database error.

Comes up for me fine when I posted, and right now. Their forums are probably getting slammed hard by all the hits on the link with this news/rumor flying around.

Ahahahahahaha, perfect end for this project. 3DR never got their priorities straight. You can only spend so much time on a game before its not profitable to make.

Take Two can continue then, but how well? Not that they need the 3DR people who worked on it, but it was 3DR's staff that had the ideas for it. I wonder if this could be yet another graphics quality update with this change of hands.

Why would anyone help out 3DR? What great titles that are current do they still own? They lost a lot to other publishers/developers, including Prey 2 and Max Payne. If Take Two can continue the Duke Nukem titles, assuming they take the gamble and try, there is nothing else of 3DR's worth saving.

Apple would be able to make use of EA's titles and large market presence. 3DR has neither.

To be honest I'd like to see someone buy up EA.... I can't stand how they do things now...DRM this DRM that.. screws up more than it prevents which is nothing.

Doubt it would change in apple's hands.

Better hopes of EA becoming a monopoly and being split up and one portion lightening up on DRM to appeal to gamers.

^ Probably should have a NSFW tag but its not much really.

Some of the footage looks decent, some looks pretty bad, but then it depends on the quality of the video.

There is a warning above the video about the animated nudity.

And you have to drop down the menu for age verification also from Game trailers
*Some animated nudity is there so be advised*

Both of you drop it.

Both posts are similar, the difference being that save linked it without adding a name to the link.

And why is everything about embedding with videos anyway? I prefer the straight up link to the source.

I'll never hold my breath for this game, but "if" it comes out, I still look forward to playing it. For the purpose of its sense of off-color humor and social commentary, the first one was a barrel of laughs.

I've heard that as well but lets hope they stick to it and lets hope they don't just release a console demo. That would be a slap in the face to all those that supported the game since its original release on 6 floppies!

First Duke Nukem was probably 1 or 2 floppies even.

I still have some of the old text games that came on 5 1/2 floppies. I don't know what to do with them but I still have them.

I remember playing Duke Nukem 1 + 2. Most people who were waiting for Duke Nukem Forever were high school kids. Those high school kids now have high school kids of their own probably, heh. They'll see their kids playing it on Xbox and be like .... the ****.

Hearing bad reviews, not from review sites, but from actual people I know that have the game. Kinda expected it to be badish but hoped to be surprised.

I'm reading mixed... the bad all seem to be those wanting way more than what Duke Nukem was to start with. To be honest if they redid the game exactly the way it was with better graphics I'd be happy. I figure mine will start downloading tonight shortly before midnight thru steam so I can play it and enjoy it as it is Duke Nukem so the catch phrases and the strippers in it will be enough for me.

The releasing it in the UK 4 days earlier than here in NA really pissed me off though..doesn't seem fair but at least it does give some to review REVIEWS and decide to cancel or not.
