Help, CD Rom Drive problem

Post by Mwing »

I have a Creative CD writer, no problems for burning CD at all, but everytime when I put a CD into it, it doesn't recognize the cd I put into, and my computer stops running other applications and uses its all power to read the cd. Do I have to change any configurations to the CD writer?

There are two things I can think of to check:
1. Autorun
2. DMA

Luckily, both are in the same location to check on... Find them in your System's Device Manager.

First, see if "Auto insert notification" has a check mark. If not, click on it, then reboot and see if it solves the problem.

If the auto insert notification IS check marked, or if checking it did not solve the problem, then change the DMA setting next. Usually, this should have a check mark. However, some CD drives have conflicts with this even though they aren't supposed to.

I hope one of these items fixes your problem.
