well I should be paying 60$/month but I'm only paying 25.95$/month cause Comcrap keeps screwing something up... I complain and they make up for it with a promo.
Every normal man must be tempted at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. I often wonder if the voices in my head ever get frustrated because I'm just too damn lazy to climb that clock tower.

Can't wait for DOCSIS 3.0 to get rolled out but man I hope they don't try to raise prices... I'd like to see them just replace packages and leave the prices alone since the new technology really won't cost much more.

Odds are it'll be a little bump and additional faster packages. Theres a big cost in upgrading everything to support DOCSIS 3.

We will start with 50Mbs down and I am sure it won't be free. Then jump to 100Mbs maybe for business at first.
There are costs to us.

Well lets just say that 60$/month for residential server of 16/2 is too high... a 50/5 would be nice for that price.
Leatherneck wrote:$60? Our full price here is $44.95. I pay Nada so it's hard to complain.
yep 60$ without TV service for 16/2 right now which IMO is way too high but hardly no competition and that hurts at least till Fiber is done being run into the area and Verizon walks in off it..which is soon..very soon and I'll drop comcast like a rock.
YARDofSTUF wrote:You realize for 50 down with Verizon it costs $140 a month?
I would expect 50/5-10 and it coming in at 99.99.
Well I read a while back that competition is pushing prices down..and thats what we need around here. There is DSL but its horrible price per speed.
that 50/5-10 package at 99.99 is still waaayyyy too much, 60$ is a round about number most people can deal with. The packages here are slowly going away and adjusting up but not the price for the most part so that would make more sense.
If Verizon does come in I believe they have a nice 20meg package so yeah I'd switch in a heart beat.

I'd love to get more out of them but i'm on the highest package I can get right now and still argue them down on price. But I'd love to have more competition in this area for them to get forced down more.

More competition is always a good thing. Verizon is having a hard time rolling FIOS out in the area. It's not too surprising since we're right out of Philly, and deep in Comcast country. They do negotiate when you call them to cancel or downgrade.
What I'd like to do, is ditch cable TV, and use IPTV services and an antenna to fill the gaps. If you pick up a Tivo or build a DVR, it looks feasible. I rarely watch TV, so it would have to be geared towards my Wife and Son. If not I would have done it by now. I was thinking how Cable isn't at all what it was when it first came out, as far as censoring and few commercials. With all the advertising they could turn it over to open air and still profit.
We weren't allowed to watch cable for years when I was little. I remember we put it on and were watching Eddie Murphy, or something like that. He was cursing up a storm and we couldn't turn it down fast enough. I can still hear the hurried steps of my Dad, as he tore through the house to bust us red handed. Instant a$$ whooping, a list of chores and one week grounded to finish them.
