this internet pause is bugging me

this internet pause is bugging me

got dsl from at&t and the connection keep pausing about every 20second and pause 3-5second (connection stop for 3-5sec and happen every 20seconds). i'm playing online games and this pause is killing me. any help would be appreaciated!
