try this site lot mor tbird info / help

www.amdzone.com

lots of amd info check the bbs(message board)

how did it go the first time did the mb
see the tbird correct setting ?

are you using at least a 300 power supply ?

try overclocking by changing your frontside bus (jumpers on the board ?) or the multipler

example 850 should be (default) guessing here

front side bus 100 x multipler 8.5
front side bus 100x 9.0 = 900

What version of the A7V do you have? (To see if you have DIP switches or not.

You also have to unlock the CPU if it's lock. Look at the L1 bridges on the chip and see if they are connectted. If they aren't, you have to connect them with either a pencil or conductive ink.

OR, you can do just fsb o/c which does not involve modding your chip. Just slowly increase the fsb in the mobo and keep goind until it's not stable anymore, than drop it down so it is stable.

Also make sure you have GOOD cooling. T-birds are the hottest running chips. My 1GHz T-bird runs at 43oC at 100% load.

ys i got the a7v with the dip switches (all of em bith sets) and i get the part about the L1 bridges but as for the rest iam a e-tard. See i am more of a software kinda guy so when it comes to hardware iam a h-tard (hardware retard) so if you can put it ion lame mans terms that would be coo. is there anyway i can make it run without ****in around with the cpu like by messin with the dip switches...ya my 800 tbird runt at about 109oF sometimes hotter and i have a massive heatsync but the case has ****ty air flow so the air just sits ther iam doing some case mdifacations this weekend...also what color is your processor? like the chip and the **** around it....mine is purple i dono if that is normal cuz the durons are green..anyway any help is appresheated.....o ya while iam already here iam having anouther probelem see i have win98 and you know the bar where all the quick launch start button adn time and all that.. a when i add any programs to the start bar they stay after reboot but when i do outehr things liek make it set to audo hide or add a address bar to it it dont save...like when i reboot the changes on that kinda stuff dont save...its annoying ....any help would be nice...thx again

In order to be able to use the DIP switches, you have to make sure your L! bridges are connected. If you do not want to play with your bridges, than you can not change the multiplier settings via DIP switches. You will have to o/c your fsb.

I have the Blue (copper) chip. The colors are green and blue. Look carefully on different angles. But if you're sure it's a blue/purple color, you have a chip with copper interconnects.

Look in you manual. They have a chart to tell you how to set up the switches at the speed you want.

Zmoney, or anyone
how do you know when you "sucessfully" connected the bridges and what did you do?
was it easy?
i ordered a t-bird 900 off some pricewatch company about 3-4 days ago, should be arriving monday the 23rd

The only way you will know is by trying. On my first attempt, I did not go over them long enough. I jsut made them black (~10 sec each) and tried to boot. I could not change the multiplier. Later, I read that you should rub the bridges for at least 30 seconds!

I haven't retried them yet....

you can always get conductive ink for a permanent job.
