CPU speed not correctly being detected?

Post by Epyon »

I have Gigabyte EP45-UD3R board and the Wolfdale C2D E8500, my BIOS seems to be correctly picking up the CPU speed at 3.16 GHz - but CPUz is only reporting the core speed as around 1999.7/.8 MHz, is this a detection error with the new Wolfdales and CPU-Z, or is there truly a problem?

turn off speedstep and whatever is the other options in the BIOS, they lower the multiplier when CPU is idle.
or just run F@H 24/7 to fix it :)

Yeah, I saw an option like that, and I'm like 99% sure it is off, but I'll double check. Brb. :D

I called Gigabyte, and it seems that even if you disable their CPU load throttling option "C.I.A.2", you must disable a few more options to fully turn it off.

I fixed the problem now, thank you.
