my New tv will display sound and flash the picture, but I cant get my picture to stay on... did i do something wrong?

Need more info.

Which input are you using? Component/HDMI? If component, make sure you have the colors in the correct inputs.

Also, is this a cable box?

If a cable box is in the setup that might be the issue.

what type of video connection? rca? dvi?

sounds like a crap vid cable connection

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

I set up a 32' Magnavox TV for my Grand mother with the same problem. It would stay on for a few seconds to a few nano seconds... It was a bad TV and I took it back for another one. Same model, neither box was opened. The 2nd set is still working just fine. I had to get an RMA from the Customer Assistance 1-800 number that came with the TV paperwork. Also this 2nd set has been working fine for nealy a year now.

Defective TV, sent it back and went and got a 50 inch Sanyo.
