Do I REALLY need OEM memory?

Post by Brewboy »

I have a Compaq Professional Workstation 5100 and I want to upgrade the memory from 128MB to 256MB. Anyone know where I could find 64MB 60ns Buffered EDO ECC DIMMS for less than $180 each? (Memory for this machine HAS to be installed in pairs)

Or could I sub some other type of less expensive memory? I don't have this kind of cash laying around.

Buy from a computer shop that'll gaurantee your money back if generic memory doesnt work in your PC.
Any reputable store will.
