Unstable connection

Hello,
I just swiched my internet to dsl from cable and the conncetion keeps dropping and wont connect back.
Here is a tracert:

when ever i try to log into my modem it says that it requires password?

Follow your modem user manual or contact ISP to get it.

Ok well just got off the phone with those idiats and they said they dont have acces to the modem? WTF?
so they say they cant resolove my prob, my internet drops connection every 5 mins.
SO ill try contacting the modem manufactorer.
any ideas?

Ok well I had to reset my modem to set it into bridge mode and I lost my internet, I had to call and I guess you are not supposed to reset it as I need to talk to a rep to apply the username and password and reconfigure it.
He said that the modem itself aint a router and changing it to bridge mode wont fix it...?

So how do I fix my lag spikes and constant dissoncets from the internet, I never had this problem untill I swiched to dsl with them.
I have the dsl modem itself with a Dlink router to have wireless on my laptop.
