email spam filter/blocker question/s

Going to fix a friends computer house ,and she is getting strange email they think it's from her selling stuff on ebay. Now three questions she has a router a lower end modem/router it's cox cable anything I should do as far as paorts?

Other then the isp ,and I heard there is some scurity forums /sites such as castlecops ,or they have alot security/goverment folks that can help further from what the proff told me a wile back, other than that site any others? I can report the email spam too?? To make sure it's gone for good.

What's a good free email filter. :)

Well instead of Outlook express I use mozilla thunderbird, it has a built in spam filter that learns to better filter stuff as time goes on.

Thanks for the tip I know 2007 outlook has better filtering installed on default that is a plus though since it's free thunderbird..

keep em comming :)
