It's been shown to help some. One of the first products to use Ubicoms QoS streaming engine..which prioritizes gaming packets. Since then...other router manufacturers have used this technology....DLink started back then with the DGL4300....their current version is the DGL4500.

It's a passthrough device...supposed to work with most any router. Haven't read ones that it doesn't work with.
Linksys also has their own wireless router with similar "game QoS" built into it. This Hawkings device came out quite a while ago..when home grade routers didn't have their own built in QoS features. DLink has purchased the same Ubicom engine that this Hawking unit runs..and includes it in their DGL routers. To be honest...I'd purchase a new wireless router such as the DGL4500, ..probably less money than this unit...and just run the 1 unit.
