i have currently have 2 pcs connected via cables using the dsl-g604t router, i mainly play on Australian team fortress 2 servers, (im from nz), if both pcs are on the same server, one pc always seems to get about 10-15ms better ping than the other, for eg 35 ping to around 47-50, (same case on nz servers), i'm just wondering why this is case? i wuld have thought both pcs should be getting the same ping?
things ive tried doing:
switching around the network cards and cables
uninstalled qos
trying to give the pc with higher ping the priority ip address
i would appreciate any help on this, cheers.
ping with 2pcs
Just sounds like one is configured a little better than the other. I'm sure if you did a fresh install of the OS on each one and all updates..then tried the game it would prob do the same pings.. unless of course the Network adaptor card your plugging into with the one that has a higher ping is not as good as the other or is going bad?

TCP Optimizer only tweaks the TCP stack.. use it if you want.ffsrofll333 wrote:any ideas?
can tcp optimizer do anything?
Otherwise I'm not sure other than a fresh install of the OS and all drivers to see if that knocks out a miss configuration somewhere.
But its only 10-15ms... its not enough to matter.

Can be a lot of factors....
Network card itself
Chipset of the motherboard...and how many other devices are sharing the bus that the NIC is on
If sharing any IRQ's with other devices
RAM of the system
Horsepower of the system
Software firewalls, if any
Antivirus
How clean is the TCP stack/winsock files, adware/spyware, etc.
Tweaks done to any of the system
