This is more of a broadband post...but is general in natural. Until recently I had both my internet and cable TV service from Suddenlink (Eastern North Carolina). My wife and I decided to stop our cable TV service in favor of DIRECTV. I got it all set up, keeping our broadband internet service from Suddenlink. I made sure I kept the cable TV service for a few days past when we got the DIRECTV stuff installed and working, just in case there were issues.
A couple days after I took back the cable TV receiver my internet stopped working. My cable modem lost signal. I called the company and they couldn't see an issue on their end and also assured me that I did still have internet service with them. To backup for a second, when the DIRECTV guy was here to hook up their stuff, I made sure my internet was still working correctly. In fact, I watched him VERY closely as to how everything was setup from the old cable box and the new DIRECTV box right next to it outside my house.
During my call to check on my internet service they offered to send someone out to check it out the next day. THEN...my wife happens to mention that earlier that day she saw a Suddenlink cable truck outside our house earlier that day. Simple enough, they discounted my internet connection on the box outside my house. I opened it up...sure enough....they did. I reconnected it, but still it didn't work.
I waited for 3+ hours past the time they said they would be there to check out the internet connection. He checked out the box outside and then went to the tap out by the road. When he opened the tap box, of the 4 total cable lines only mine was disconnected....simple unscrewed and nothing more. The guy set it all up and I checked my internet...it worked again. I asked him why it was discounted as I never actually asked for that. He replied that the previous techs probably got confused. Although, he did add that they didn't do it right. They were supposed to terminate the end of the cable a certain way at the tap and at the house and they didn't. They just disconnected everything.
In thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that basically they saw that I now had DIRECTV and even though I was still getting internet from them, decided to mess with me by disconnecting things they shouldn't have.
Grrr....
Cable company messed with me

As a cable guy and former installer/tech I doubt it was intentional. Some putz was sent out to trap video services and mucked it up. Even though it is our livelihood, it's also our job and you kept a portion of the service. No reason to mess with you. If it was a contractor than I really doubt it was intentional as they get paid by the job and could care less what that job is.
The people that were fun to mess with were the "Non-Pays"
