Seriously, if this doesn't show pressure, I don't know what does. The posters for all the recent horror movies are 1000% worse than showing a guy in a hood, and they're approved.

Is the MPAA a government organization or a privately funded "self-policing" arm of the private motion picture industry?

I gave Miss Manners a Dirty Sanchez, and she LIKED it.

Pretty sure it's a trade industry body only.

Serious hypocrisy. You see movie posters all the time that aren't exactly child safe.

If it's a private organization (for profit) then the removal of such a fire brand from a poster could be the firm covering it's ass(ets). Or a carefully crafted bit of publicity. Could be. Likely that a gov't official didn't like the stigma and pulled a string or two.

It's the trade industry body that rates films NC, R, etc. It also reviews the posters that advertise the films.
