Farcry, Crysis and Thief

Post by Shagster »

Three games that I think totally drop the ball in the middle.

Thief...great game until it turned into the make no sense zombie killing. I'd play the game til I got to that and start over.

Farcry...great game until all I could kill was monsters. Another game I just played half way through and started over.

Crysis... I love the beginning where your suite actually has a point and your strategically taking out korean units. Now I have some ice shard shooter and am killing one unit that flies in circles above me firing ice shards back, thats about it. Over and Over and Over and Over and Over and I quit.

I can't say much about the other games..but Crysis will have 3 parts, the game your playing now is only the 1st installment...not to mention its "future proof" for upgrades and additions to the MP part of the game. Don't count the ball dropped on this game till its all released. I love the SP..but the MP is awesome on its own...great gameplay, great new features with the suit...great balance!

Agreed. Even before the middle. Eyecandy that's exciting for a few minutes. Zero replay value.

Crysis is getting some serious love from MaximumPC, but they ding it bigtime for a lack of character development. What is your guys thoughts?

I love it.. change happens and I think most people are not accepting change in the way Crytek went with Crysis. This first release is only 1 part of 3 so I don't know why they are "dinging" anything when they obviously don't know any better.

It's their business to know this stuff man. They give it their highest rating, but they say the character development leaves something to be desired. I don't think they are being mean in general. After all they did give it a 9 out of 10. :)

Haven't played Thief. I liked SP for both FarCry and Crysis but multi-player for both kinda sucks. Being future proof and blah blah means nothing to me if the game now isn't that great.

well they shouldn't be judging it at all, nobody should..cause its not done yet. This is just part 1 of 3 and if you run through the whole SP of it you will know what I mean..ending is really frustrating! :D

Stop saying people shouldnt judge it, you have judged it as well, everyone will judge it, and its demo, thats how people will decide if they liek it, or like the demo enough to buy the game.

I love it, So far.... I can judge it based on what it is not what it isn't since it isn't finished yet...those that say its crap haven't played the whole thing yet.

Innocent till proven guilty is the way I'm treating it.

You play something, if you like it then you keep playing it. If you dont like it, then you stop, because these are games, meant for people to have fun playing. So if some people dont have fun, they stop, as it should be.

Not everyone will like all the FPS games. Everyone is judging the game, like all others, on what they see infront of them. Some like more realistic games like half life, COD, and the early BF series, others like the crazy and wild future stuff like UT and Quake. Crysis is right in the middle, and it carries on with a poor trait similar to BF2's shortfall, the weapons upgrade system.

There is no innocent or guilty deal here.

^ thats the gist of my opinion. I like shooting Koreons in jeeps with my real guns and crazy suit. I don't like shooting flying aliens with an ice shard shooter.

You keep saying this "it's not finished!" stuff about Crysis. Well how about this: it got released, I paid $50 for it (the same as every other new RELEASED game, and on that note I sure as #*%# aren't paying $150 for a single game, but rather 3 games), I played through it and beat it. Regardless of if it has a second chapter or whatever you want to call it, I can judge the game as much as I feel like it as a game in it's entierty, as can everyone else here. Crysis delayed so they could 'finish' it. They did not say "we're delaying it so we can finish this 1/3 of the game guys!".

I agree with the lack of character development and FULLY agree with enjoying shooting real people over shooting aliens. I was completely into the game until I sat dizzy for an hour floating through some alien ship, after which I got to go outside and shoot a bunch of annoying creatures with guns half the fun. Far Cry was very similar in that it was fun shooting the people but the aliens just sucked.

I just couldn't get into Thief. I guess it just isn't my kind of game.

Who is saying it's not a good game? I haven't seen one person in here or in an article say it's a bad game so far.

I don't care that you are goofing at off at work. But I'd fire you for writing that sentence.

I think I was typing in two different tabs and kept flipping back and forth when I was talking to some students while watching a movie at the same time. :D
