What's the most fun current rpg?

Post by fixationdarknes »

...other than World of Warcraft? I have played that long enough that I want a fresh experience from a different rpg.

It doesn't have to be online (preferrably though), and it doesn't have to necessarily be a new game. I heard Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn is one of the best classic rpg's to date. And maybe I'll give Neverwinter Nights a try? Any other suggestions?
You played the Song of Storms!

EvE is a great game if you like space sims. The only one worth paying for.

However, if you want the best RPG apart from WoW I'd say Vanguard or LotR:Online are not a bad choice. It all depends on what 'you' like though. NWN either the classic or NWN2 and it's expansions are all fun to play if you like SP RPG's. Personally I'm not a great fan of The Elder Scrolls, but the amount of people that are proves it has to offer something. I haven't played the latest ones (mostly due to an older PC).

If you are considering paying for a new MMO I'd advise you to hang in there for a few months since there are alot of projects in development that are very promising.

If you dont play Baldur's Gate one an two with the expansions youre doing yourself a huge injustice.

look for mods out there alwo that greatly expand the scope of the game addig in lots of detailed side quests without detracting from the main story (which in my opinion is long enough, but if you cant get enough of story questing then definately check out the mods)

Never winter nights is a good game. Oblivion and its expansion packs are good as well.

If you could do play mass effect, one of the most fun rpg I've played since KOTOR. Oh yeah, KOTOR too.

Online rpgs... hmm.. guild wars is decent but if you like WoW I don't think u'll like it too much.

wow is the best one out right now as far as playability (amazing user interface) and content goes. if your hung up on the fact that theres not much lore in the game, the new expension wrath of the lich king is supposed to address this problem. however, if you just wanna kill ****, roll a warrior like all the other scrubs

Do what I did and just fire up FFVII again. :)

There's been a lack of REALLY good RPG titles recently. A few have come out on the consoles that I need to check out, but so far nothing is really wowing me like these games used to.

ffxii is crap now, its extremely inactive. if there was as many people playing it as wow, or even just full servers, the game would be exponentially better

I said ffVii, not XII. I played XII for about a month before I was through with it. However VII might still be my favorite game of all time and it came out in 1997.

Hmm.. Well I doubt you're into this game but it's called Goonzu Online.. 2/3D spritish characters. Hard to say the time settings but I'd say more within the dynasty times, asian influence to the games settings and such.

Well then again though, that's about the only game I could play on such a crappy comp.

Or you could go back to good ol' runescape if you can't find anything current.

Meh, just listing a bunch of random free mmorpgs.

I'd also recommend Anarchy Online if you can't find anything current.

Well there's runes of magic which started last monday, the open beta I mean, it's pretty fun, it's basically a mix of several games put into one MMO but it's mostly WoW like and it's free.
