give me your reccomendations for a cheap but good computer that i'll EVENTUALLY be getting. this will of course change by the time i actually buy it.

KT7E (is this RAID compatible, RAID-0?)
fastest duron available (600-900, want to o'c)
dual 30gb raid-0
400+ watt power
klipsch promedia 4.1
cheap $20 lan
geforce 2 mx
256mb pc133 RAM (266 bus duron! maybe..)

also, what's a good heatsink/fan for this? and when is a dual amd mobo coming out that supports DUAL durons? just think, dual duron 600's @ 2400mhz....i think i like it!

I don't know if you are keeping your system you currently have, but i know that you can get a cheap NIC card (Linksys) from staples for $18.99. I am hoping to upgrade soon also.

I hope your kidding about 2.4 ghz hehe. Or maybe u are referring to 2 600's at 1200, in which case I still hope ur kidding. It is nearly impossible to get current durons past 1100-1150. Overclocking is an art. You have to tweak until you find a good, stable configuration for your specific system. Though, I admit, AMD has made it a pretty simple art with Durons and T-birds. My suggestion is that you wait for the new AMD chip, the palamino, or possibly the Mustang or Sledgehammer(not sure about the hammer one). Now is a cheap market, but if you want to make a nice upgrade to last, and it seems you have some cash, I would suggest waiting at least six months. The market will be different. The P4 will be running on DDR, maybe we will even have an Itanium from Intel. AMD will have yet another new chipset. I think that is the best option if you want a long term upgrade, at this point.

i didn't know about the kt7e not having RAId, that sucks! dammit! oh well, just get the kt7a-r. also, i forgot that durons only got 1.1Ghz (2.2gig in a dual), but still 2.2gig isn't too bad! i don't have any cash to throw around yet, and YES i'm keeping my box i have now. i guess you're wondering why a geforce 2 mx. i am going to boycott the gef3 until pricing is sub-$200. period.
