Just put one of my dogs down
It never gets any easier.
Casper was my black lab, everybody's favorite dog.
Got her from a pound in Arizona in early '94 when she was already about a year old. Wonderful dog ever since, couldn't ask for a better dog. She loved swimming and canoeing and chasing birds on the beach, and laying in the sun charging her solar panels.
Damnit.

What did she get sick from?
She was creaky but still doing fine until a couple of weeks ago. Stopped eating almost completely. Threw what she did eat up at first, then stopped taking anything except small bites of boiled chicken thighs. The real pisser is that all she **** was "old blood" that had gone through the digestive system, meaning it came from the stomach or high in the intestines. Past couple days she threw up some bright red blood as well.
Brought her in for an ultrasound over the weekend, got the results back yesterday at work. Didn't show anything to explain the bleeding at all.
Maybe a bad ulcer, or a burst tumor, or hole in the intestines.
Bloodwork looked fine, lungs and heart sounded fine, next step would've been an endoscopy. Even if they found the source of the internal bleeding they probably couldn't have done anything short of major surgery. She was already miserable, I wasn't willing to put her through all that.
Sorry about your dog, it is tough to see them suffer. I'm sure she is in a happier place.
Now, Hank, touch your throat. That tube you feel is your trachea. Think of it as your handle. That thing your thumb is on is your carotid artery. Think of it as your button. I want you to grab the handle, push the button.

thanks for the kind words.
DePlano just left, helped me plant her under one of the apple trees.
Still have Starla, Ember, Leo, and Sam...happy and healthy.
11:54 AM and I'm half drunk, but Casper's out of whatever pain she was in and is at rest, and the part of my brain that's been worried sick over her for the past 2 weeks can relax.
Lucky enough to be able to take the day off from work, and thankfully trini's going to go in on his day off to close the store for me. I love that little guy, don't know what I'd do without him.

Don't be jealous, if you hadn't thrown such a bitch fit the last time I mentioned him you'd still be allowed over.brembo wrote:Not be so totally flamingly gay?
Walk away from your computer, slip into your latex gimp suit, and go cruise for some little cows or pigs or whatever you're "into" this week.
