Is it the Trinitron KDS 17inch? It all depends on what you're comfortable with. I've got a 19inch KDS FD Trinitron tube, i run @ 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz. All my friends say they can't read the text on my screen cuz its 2 small, but i'm used to it so its not a problem with me.

I would recommend 1280x1024 @ 85Hz if you can read small text cuz the extra desktop space you get is really useful.

Thanks Tigeruppercut for the reply: I have the mointor set at 1024x768 display at 16 bit Highcolor - One thing that helped my KDS is I went to KDS web site and down loaded the Driver (kds 7e) my Computer would load the default mointor the drivers made a difference
Thanks again

Any reason why you are not using 32 bit True Color?

i vary on 32/16bit color, some of my older games make me run the desktop in 16bit so the game will run, so i end up leaving it at that, maybe similar for him.

He can't use 32bit resolution with the Voodoo III,it only supports up to 16bit.At the time, the TNT2 DID support 32 bit, which was the beginning of the end for 3DFX....

you mean to tell me that when i set it to True Color(32 bit) in the display properties it isnt viewing at 32 bit?

the card i had in here only supported 16 bit tops and i used to put it to 32 bit and it looked fine.

I have a voodoo3 with a viewsonic 17",and I have it set at 85hz,800x600,16 bit high color.this is the best for me .it might work for you.the higher res at my age is too hard to see.and the 16bit gives better benchmark perf than the 32bit,you can't really see the diff under normal use anyway.

have a good night...... :D
