Best vid card for the money
I love to play games online, and i basically want to know what is the best video card for the money?
The quickest way to end a war, is to lose it.
Go with the GeForce2 MX. It puts out framerate in Half-Life engine and Q3A engine games at the games max. 100 FPS. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I cannot seem to set any parameter to acheive anything higher than 100 fps in Q3A or Half-Life. Things like "fps_max 150" still yeilds 100 fps. I know my vid card will do better than that. It is a limitation in the game engine. You can pick up a GeForce2 MX for around $100-$130. A friend of mine got one from www.computerpartsusa.com for about $120. And it pushes the same framerate as my GTS when there is not alot of heavy explosions going on. Heavy explosions, his drops to about 70-80 fps. Not too bad.

I own an MX, but I really dont like recommending it anymore. I mean, after the whole freeze up thing in Diablo 2, and the graphic glitches in the lighting in Unreal. I mean, if it were in my primary machine I would have nixed it awhile ago, but it's in my second box so I really couldnt care less for the money.
But you obviously want it in a primary machine and for this I would not recommend it. And it's not just me, there have been plenty of others with the same kind of glitches. If I were you I'd just wait and get the Pro in like a month or two for around $200US.
Anand says you can find it here--------------->http://www.shentech.com/videoadapters.html
for 239 dolla.
And just think how much longer that PRO will last you.
