A 75 year old woman from Karlstad in central Sweden has been thrust into the IT history books - with the world's fastest internet connection.
Sigbritt Löthberg's home has been supplied with a blistering 40 Gigabits per second connection, many thousands of times faster than the average residential link and the first time ever that a home user has experienced such a high speed.
no i've got DSL hooked up till they get there crap together.. I'm talking as a whole though.... look at how much dial up is still used in this country and all because we have to cut red tape to get Broadband over the powerlines allowed or these cable and phone companies expand more out side a small town to rural areas.

Even the most seeded torrent in the world wouldnt be able to sustain 40gbps!
The conenction speed from fios and and comcast/cox cable is faster than most downlaod sites allow as well.
All a 40gbps connection would do is create more FasterFox abusers, some guy with 12,000 connections would be slowing down **** for everyone. 50-100mbps would be nice to have, you wouldnt run out of bandwidth easy.
The bigger problem is that we have allowed downlaod sites to charge us money to faster downlaods from them.
How many millions of 56K dial-up modems does the old lady have in her house to get such speed? I can imagine the beam on her face as she send out a couple of emails and do some chatting with her friends, all that can be served with just one dial-up modem.
