Post by scotty2b »

This is going to be a weird question (dont ask why) I am trying to find out how I can copy an entire HD to another HD So this is what I want to do I want to copy the entire content from my home computers(maxtor 30 gig 7400rpm) to a new maxtor that is 30gig 7400rpm so I can work on the exact same material at our cabin The system will be identical to my home PC

well I know there is a program called Norton Ghost that will take an image of your hard drive for you for just that kind of thing. I dont have a copy of it myself, but several do on here and they could give you an idea of how good it is.

read my reply in the hardware section. Much easier then ghost and it's free. You're even ENTITLED to use this program.

Also there is a way to tranfer everything from your old harddrive to your new hard drive by useing a patchcord. I do not remember how. But if you check in the hardware forum . I think you will find the answer. It put everything on thenew hard drive with out haveing to use a software program. I have not done it for a while and cannot remember the command. GoodLuck ! I hope this helps you out! :) You must also make sure this drive is formatted to a fat32 or fat16 or how ever you may have it set up.
