Greetings,
I have two PCs running Win XP pro sp2. One of the computers is connected to the internet directly through an ADSL modem. The internet connection is shared successfully to the other computer. The PCs are connected through a switch.
I have a problem when I want to add a network place in the "My Network Places". It gives me a message that I don't have the permission to access the workgroup!
PS: I run the network wizard on both PCs.
Thank you.
Access permission!

In TCP properties of each NIC...the LAN NIC (not your WAN NIC of your machine connected to the broadband modem if you're running ICS on it)...make sure file and print sharing is set in the exceptions of the XP firewall.
In advanted TCP properties, WINS tab, enable netbios over TCP/IP
Having both machines in the same workgroup will help populate My Network Places quicker...however it has nothing to do with permission or ability to access....
Run IPCONFIG on each workstation..jot down their LAN IPs
On one machine, click on Start==>Run==>\\192.168.100.101 where you substitue the IP address of the "other" PC for the one above. Any shares you have..should be seen.
Are you using XPs Simple File Sharing?
