Generally; WinMX = Napster for MP3s

.......Just loaded www.winmx.com program. It only logs onto a napster server, so I only find what i could get with napster...

go ahead and tell me about the Different servers...

It lists around 15 servers but can only connect to a 'napster' server; the others just keep knocking at the door.

'I read somewhere' that you should use your napster Name&password to logon to other servers... what?!

I know I just have it setup wrong or something minor...

Looking for the song 'The Game' by Disturbed as my test, can you find it with winmx ? I can't.......

Same here I am only able to connect to the Napster servers.

My son use one on is cable made by AOl called Amister It lets him download from different site for mp3 and dvd movies plus games. I think he got it at www.amister.com
You might want to look in to that. He claims it is pretty good. I really don't know because I do not use it.

Dump Winmx and use napigator, it is alot better and you get to choose wich servers you want to connect to. That means you can connect to a server with lots of users or files. Just go to www.napigator.com and download it.

try www.bearshare.com and www.limewire.com those btoh are pretty good and the their is that other thing from the ppl who made napster i forget what it is called tho

bearshare and limewire are pathetic compared to 'direct connect'. Look it up on www.download.com and you'll be amazing!

Get the new winmx.

Was just released today version 2.5

The old version only connected you to opennap servers which, since musiccity stoped are smaller and overcroweded.

The new version is based on a new peer to peer technology. Seems to be working pretty well so far. Still connects to napster as well and still can manually connect to any opennap server you want.

Let me know what you guys think of the new WinMX.

Bearshare is spyware so watch out. I've never had any success with gnutella clients. I think they pretty much all stink.

As far as direct connect, I'm kind of annoyed as I have a bug (causes DC to crash) that I can replicate every time. You'd think the author might want to know about that (I have seen other people have the same problem), but he hasn't answered my emails, so DC is out.

WinMx 2.5 works great! Can get about 10 smaller servers along with a few bigger servers. But you still have trouble connecting and getting a song to D/L. Got to click on a few at a time till one does start. No spyware is a +
