Wondering...

Post by knightmare »

Have any of the members ever sold cars for a living?, Used cars or a new car dealership?

Curious after watching the show--"King of Cars"...pretty wild show, alot of pressure to make the sale !!

My causin is doing it.He import cars from states and sells them over here. After duty and all the fees he makes 3-4k per car but he is bringing in only BMW.
I was bringing cars from east 4x4 2000+ because they are cheap there and the reason why they are cheap is,they are using too much salt over there. So its pretty rusty.I changed few parts and sold the same 4x4 (i was buying always Toyotas) here in BC for half the price what they are selling it over here.Quite a few buyers always asked ..."heh car from east right?" And i said yes. They always got 6 months warranty from me even when i wasnt dealer and so far nobody called me back. But it was 2 years ago i'm not doing it anymore. But Toyotas are running forever, i have minivan backup car 1987 Toyota 4 cylinder and there is over 400k clicks on it and so far no problem.

Nah...never sold cars at a lot.
I've bought them at impound and police seizure auctions and resold them in my spare time.
My stepdad sells cars and has for the last 13 or so years. He makes a pretty good living at it.

I did it informally growing up. I kept under the maximum without a license.

When you are 17 and have your cash tied up in cars, there is a LOT of pressure to make sales!!

Do you have maximum number of cars you can do without a license where you're at?
As long as I pay the excise tax for each one Oklahoma doesn't force me to have a license. It's a little extra, but I pass the extra cost on :D
