Well its suppose to be optimized for newer CPUs, getting rid of the junk for all the older stuff.
I dunno if its because of that or the fact that its BSD, but KDE is faster on it than the linux distros I've tried.
PCBSD, anyone running it?

I haven't used PCBSD, but BSD does use a very different model from Linux.
--BSD is not a distro - it is a (actually several) full OS; where linux is just a kernel.
--BSD has dedicated dev teams that manage the entire project. Linux has decentralized dev - that makes BSD release schedules easier to manage.
Gnome does run under BSD - http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/index.html

anything is possible - nothing is free
