Windows 2000 Terminal Server

Post by Dogmeat »

Ok ... I'm wondering several things about Windows 2000 Terminal Server that I can't seem to find docs about.

Right now I've used this in conjunction with Citrix Metaframe to be able to remotely log in to the Windows 2000 server. (Just like with PCAnywhere so to speak) ... This was using the Citrix ICA client.

My question is, what do I have to do to use the Microsoft RDP protocol? I can't find anything at all about an RDP client for NT4/2000/whatever on Microsoft's website. I'm sure this isn't something that ships with Windows 2000 ... Does MS not release a client for their own terminal services?

Essentially I'm looking for ways to log into an interactive session from a client machine on the network via terminal services, as opposed to using Citrix.

Does anyone know where there are any white papers about TS, or where I can get the right client, or anything?

Thanks ...

If you are asking about where to find TERMINAL SERVICE CLIENT, go into the terminal server service and you can make a client floppy directly from the program .
I just reformatted my WIN2K SERVER or I would be able to tell you step by step .

Once you install the Terminal Server on Win2K A.S. you will have the menu option in Administrative Tools to create the client. Click on that and follow the directions. No more to it than that.
