i can only get a max dl of 240kbps ul is fine though?

You can't tweak AOHELL.

i dont wana tweek just want a proper dl speed 240kbps i had 255kbps on aol 2 mb i now moved (nearer the bigger ex) now have 8mb and have dl of 240?

try leaving the modem off for a few seconds if it's dsl. If it's cable try 5 mins.
