MCKEESPORT, Pa. -- For 10 years, Tanya Nicole Kach says she was told that her parents didn't want her, that she was stupid and no one cared about her but the middle school security guard who was keeping her in his home.

ya ..can't tell if that's what his lawyer was trying to establish with his ..'no one forced' her comments....not sure hwo his parents are going to fit into this...
I cannot even imagine the type of "brainwashing" that would take for her to actually believe that story for all those years, nor why she did not try to do some investigation on her own...or at the very least talk to her teachers, school couselors or someone in a position of command. 14 is an extemely vulnerable age...but 10 years in captivity or semi captivity with full acceptance
It sounds like she was never allowed to go back to school so there was no opportunity to confide in teachers. I'll bet she was mad at her parents at first, and if she did run away willingly at first, it wouldn't have been so hard to brainwash her that they wouldn't want her after that. so pitiful.
