[quote="Croc"]Yeah, we're all ok here but wow.... what a mess just to our north.
Most intense storm to hit the coast in living memory. Worse than Cyclone Tracy that flattened Darwin. Thankfully it was moving @ 25kph so it wasn't in one place for long. Tracey moved @ 8kph and flattened everything
Everyone's there. Army, State & Federal Gov't departments, All utilities and the area is off limits to all but those who have a need to be there. We are waiting for the call to bring in our large cherrypickers for some of the power transmission line work but it's too early yet to get there.
90% of the nation's banana crop comes from that area. So does the bulk of the tropical fruit along with the sugarcane. All is flattened.
We have friends who planted an avenue of pine trees as a buffer for their banana farm. Some 40 trees fully grown. 9 are left standing. The farm is wiped out with not one palm standing. We will be there on the weekend to help them out with shifting the logs.
Thanks everyone for the concern shown. All we gotta do now is wait for the next one to arrive. Cyclone Wati (Cat3) is on it's way in now.

Pray it doesn't hit the same area.
Oh.......... Thanks GWB for your kind offer of assistance. (Seems he phoned our PM to offer help.)

Ouch!!! It appears that you are far from out of the woods yet my friend. I have been following the news quite closely and although heartbreakingly sad...it appears that most damage has been done to crops, homes, and material things...devastating enough in its own right...but replacable. Lets hope all your people stay safe!! That means you and yours too!!
