Worst pain you ever felt?

Post by Roody »

For me it would be when I tore ligaments in my ankle playing basketball. Doctor says I went as far as I possibly could have without breaking anything. I had blood clots that went from my ankle to mid-thigh level. I screamed like Prey at a poetry convention. :D

Man that hurt. :(

Clinical depression. Sometimes it can hurt so bad, that you contemplate suicide to end the pain.

I have a cyst on my back, that I need to get taken care of. Most of the time, it's dormant, but there are times that it will swell up and turn into a humongous painful zit lookin thing! Can't walk or anything! I should get that checked out, since it's come back in the same spot around 3 times! Image

Well, I had c-sections with both my kids. Any of y'all with kids know how they come around and mash on your stomach periodically after the baby is born? Well, this is especially painful after a ceasarian. so anyways, I had some hemorrhaging )sp?) after my son, and to control it they had to do the mashing thing. 2 nurses on either side of me, doing what looked like cpr compressions on my incision. Every 5 minutes. I really thought I was dying. I was actually praying that I would die.

Motorcycle tried to neuter me once. Ended pinned up against a tree with the full weight of the bike on my nuts pretty much. Branches had snapped off and dug into my back(one left a 1/2" gash 5" across my back when I slid off the tree), but I could not feel those as my nuts were trying to occupy the same place as the gastank on my motorcycle. I didn't walk much the next day and I didn't pee, was afraid it would be pink.

Summer of '96 @ UNC -Chapel Hill, inside "Dean's Den". I was at a basketball camp and playing in a scrimmage game in front of potential college scouts and players from all over the country. I was really excited to be there and playing my hardest. During the scrimmage I intercepted a pass, took it down the court at full speed, was going up for the easy dunk when suddenly I felt my ankle just turn and giveway.. "SNAP!".. I fell hard to the floor, knocked the wind out of myself from the fall, sprained my elbow but didn't notice.. I just laid there holding my ankle until I got my breath back enough for me to start screaming like a little girl.

The only cool part was that Eric Montross was helping out at the camp and he was one of the first guys to rush over and help me off the floor, and basically he just hung out with me and helped me out a lot during the rest of the camp while I was on crutches, it was really nice of him and I got to meet a few other former UNC players from that era as well.

it's a tie between two things:

1. i had a wisdom tooth that part broke off of..i was waiting to see the dentist but the appt was a month away as i wasn't in much pain-they were going to pull it at the next appt. but somehow in the first couple weeks, a bit more of the tooth broke off, and all of a sudden one morning, the nerve became exposed. i've felt bad toothache pain, but this was like someone was touching a hot drill end to the nerve. i mean it was UNBEARABLE. i was seriously having visions of finding a wrench and pulling it out myself. called the dentist, they had me come in, and luckily by that time the pain went away. they bumped my appointment up for a few days later instead of in two more weeks, and the pain never came back like it did that morning, but i lived in fear til i got that tooth pulled

2. (may be a bit Too Much Information-you've been warned) impacted bowel-couldn't go to the bathroom. it felt like someone was taking my intenstines and twisting them in both hands as hard as they could. again, pretty much unbearable. i was about to go to the emergency room when things finally err..worked themselves out.
There is security in fearlessness.

Debridement of second and third degree burns is not so much fun. Even less fun is having the bandages changed later on as the nerves grow back. That just makes you go straight to feeling nauseous while screaming and then you pass out.

I have been stabbed, broken bones, herniated a disc and had a couple of internal surguries and NOTHING compares to exposing all the raw nerve endings on your lower legs to air. Just this gawdawful white hot flash as if your lower body had just burst into flames. Then your brain clicks the off button. Standing up while wearing those bandages is the only time I've ever actually been able to feel my blood vessels expand as the blood started moving into my lower extremities. Nossir. I'd take death over that again without a seconds hesitation.

Regards,

Thx Prey, but I look around and see other people who have harder hardships, or circumstances in their life. That is when I wake up and stop feeling sorry for myself. Still, there are times when you get down.
