Wireless networking issues
Well this is a 2 part issue here ,one is just settling an argument..my son says that when using a wireless router you need to always have a computer hardwired to it in order to effectivley use the routers admin....is this true or false..i say you dont....and now to the main issue...i was running a d-link wireless router and eveything was fine.i use a program called dc++ and it to worked just fine (using the active mode for doing searches)..i have recently replaced it with a belkin wireless router. every thing works just fine, except for when i try and do a search in dc++ in active mode ,it shuts down my router after displaying the search results.it works fine though if i use passive mode to do a search without shutting down the router.what would cuase this...i even turned off my firewall thinking it might be that but still shuts router down after doing a search in active mode....does anyone have any thoughts as to why it might be doing this and how i can fix the prob?
Yap, you should have at least one computer connected with Wire.

You don't have to have a computer connected to you wireless router all the time for it to work. I have a netgear wireless router and never have anything hard wired to the router unless something goes wrong or I need to change it's config. Then I just take my laptop and plug it into the router to make any changes or fixes. So to answer your question, no you don't need to have a computer plugged into the router at all times for it to work.
Large increases in cost with questionable increases in performance can be tolerated only in race horses and women.
