Post by nivram »

I just got a adsl bellsouth modem and service. I have windows 98 and I live in memphis. The phone comp. is down the street behind me. Which patch should I use to speed up my dsl modem? and I have a 25 foot cord connecting my modem to the jack can that slow my speed?

You can use the speedguide windows 98 patch to begin with (you can always uninstall it later)

I have found speedguide patches to be a pretty good generic speed patch.

DSL doesn't usually see a huge jump in download speeds because your connection speed is capped at a much lower rate than cable.

i too have bellsouth only in SC. anyways i did see a big jump. from 130KB to 160KB after installing a tweak. however mine did not come from speedguide. it came from the Navas group. I used speedguides for my cable with no improvement, so this time I tried someone elses. Still like speedguide for other info though.
