what's the point if they wait that long, all new machines, OEM, etc.. will have Vista on them, that'll be the new thing, to come out with SP3 for XP in 2007 is just stupid, either have it available this year, or don't bother
with all the money and resources MS has they sure do take their sweet time with this stuff

Because they have a documented end of life policy that their maintenance contracts reference.Brent wrote:http://news.com.com/Microsoft+XP+SP3+wo ... g=nefd.top

Even though Vista is due late this year, it's unlikely that Vista final will be used on any oem system until mid 2007, except for high end systems. Just as in xp final, there will be delays in hardware manufactures providing Vista drivers. We are still in early in Vista beta currently and the pace is not moving all that quick.

I do Release Management for my company - includes EoL. I know this pain personally. Maintaining multiple codestreams for the same product is really expensive.YeOldeStonecat wrote:'Zactly.Just because a new product is out, doesn't mean they should stop supporting prior OS's.
