Good Motherboard, CPU combo

Post by Tailgunner9 »

What would you suggest as a replacement for my computer for gaming. Is the Intel 955x board with Pentium D 840 3.2GHz Open for suggestions. Want something with PCI express and SATA so if I upgrade hard drive and video card later. Guess my AGP video card will not work on the newer boards like this. Thanks for any help.

Either AMD or Intel will be fine. I went with AMD this time around. Mostly for performance and price reasons.
I just ordered this motherboard recently

It runs PCIe and AGP for a smoother transition on a budget. I also didn't want to add the cost of a video card into the build either.

Most newer boards support SATA and SATA2.

I would go with cyphers mobo choice if you want to keep AGP and have a PCIe option, the AMD dual cores are a better deal, if you OC a dual core opteron or 3800+ X2 wil do you well, if not or if you want to start at a high spot 4400+ X2 is a great chip.
