x800 pro problems.

Post by pimptrizkit »

I just recently received a sapphire x800 pro vivo pci x16 card and have been running it. After about 15-20 minutes of playing battle field 2 using All low settings at 1024x780 resolution, the PC shuts off. It runs at 32 degrees celcius using ATITool 0.24 and has stock clock speeds. I can't figure out what is happening.

It sounds like your psu is failing from the load. What psu do you have? Whats the +12v max amperage rating?

Its a thermaltake 480w buttefly. I am running 2 side case fans, a cdrw, dvd rom, 80 gig western digital, my mobo and cpu w/ fan. I think it was overheating, because once I turned the fan from auto to manual 100% it stopped crashing..

That psu should be ok, glad it was just a heat issue that you were able to fix rather than somethin else eh :)

I'm not sure if its completely a heat issue, I guess I'll just start maxing out bf2 and seeing how hot it gets and then back off a lil. I know the cooler on these suck arse so I just want it to last a year and then im taking the heatsink cooler off and replacing it with a good one.
