I've never been so pissed at a retail store
I wish this happened somewhere out in town, because I could comprehend it if it did.
I get up early to go into the base clothing store to see about getting a Dress Blue blouse for the Marine Corps Ball. I walk back to the alterations section and politely ask how long it would take for the alterations to be done. This asain lady starts yelling at me about going to pick out a blouse and she'd get it done when she gets it done. I'm just like 'ooookkkkk'.
So then I walk up front and ask for help in picking the right size and they just tell me to "Go try them on." I said, tactfully, that I am not sure what size I am looking for and if I could give a recommendation based on my appearance on where to start. "I don't know." Then she got up and walked off.
I stood there for like 30 seconds trying to comprehend what the hell just happened. I'm just gonna go to the ball in Dress Alpha's. I think they look better anyway.

Base stores have the worst service usually. At least when I was in. Don't get my rant started. Most of the workers are military spouses whose husbands have been deployed for a year, and just need a good d*cking
My son ... ask for thyself another internet connection, for that which I leave is too slow for thee
Screw 'em, hon. Do you have a lady friend who will accompany you to find what you are looking for? (unless it's too late) I'd go with ya if I could. Most women know the language and customs of specialty shopping.Shaggy wrote:I wish this happened somewhere out in town, because I could comprehend it if it did.

The ball is on Saturday and that is the only place to get the uniform altered. I don't really trust them to get it done in time. The uniform w/ medals will run me about $250. I really don't wanna spend that much money with them telling me 'we'll get it done when we get it done.'Sarahnn wrote:Screw 'em, hon. yea I agree with zilog, for whatever reason, people at clothing sales are usually really grouchy all the time. Probably because theres not really any compitition, they know if u want it done, its pretty much the only place to do it.

It's not as easy as picking out a coat size. They all have unique kneck sizes, arm length, arm width, torso length and torso width.
Since they are too lazy to help me pick out the right size to tailor a correct fit. They would probably take whatever I got and tailor it to look like **** to save them the 5 minutes it would take to get me a right fit.
If I went in and asked for a Small/Long Dress Blue top, they'd just laugh.
I guess I just walked into the wrong shop. I'll wait til a det. to buy a top.

Ah, okay, there's lots more to it than I thought. My apologies.
That and my coat size doesn't exist. My alpha coat was special ordered because I am a unique size.ghost wrote:Ah, okay, there's lots more to it than I thought. My apologies.
When I say a blouse, I mean a coat, they trained me to call it a blouse, don't know why. My pants are called trousers.
Is it so wrong???
We all work for the same people. Call me crazy but I think I should be treated better since I'm wearing the uniform. They don't think so, and they get away with it.Dan wrote:do they not give a crap because it's a "base store" ? kinda like the dept of motor vehicles or the phone co!! LOL
There are some very friendly people who work gov. retail though. They aren't all evil!
