google 'spybot s & d', 'adaware SE', or microsoft anti-spyware. If you are a local administrator you can install this stuff on your own. I'd recommending all three and scanning the machine with each as a start

Spybot and AdAware as mentioned. Some will not remove without a lot of work! If you mind some that you can't get rid of do a search on Google for the name of the specific spyware that was found (by spybot or/and Adaware.) Some virus software has the ability to stop spyware. Make sure your DATs are up to date.

Also, stop using IE and switch to FireFox. :D

spybot
adaware
google toolbar
spywareblaster

update and use them all

spyware blaster is a preventer, the immunize feature on spybot is too. use them both.

google toolbar can block pop ups, u can select sites like SG to be allowed so u get PM notification pop ups and stuff.

adaware and spybot are good scanners.

Any idea what the name of the other bar is? Maybe if you look through your processes you could find something that shouldn't be running.

The other bars could be installed via the control panel, check the name of the bar and then go to "add remove programs" and see if its there, if so, uninstall.

also if you can post a screen shot of your processes Ctrl Alt Del, processes tab, we can spot some badies.

Yup, Spybot==>update, immunize, scan
Adaware==>update, scan
Microsoft Antispyware==>update, scan, plus for getting rid of deep rooted stuff, nothing beats the Advanced Tools System Explorer utility of MS Antispyware...it's a fantastic program. :thumb:

Dunno what antivirus program you're using at work, but most of the new ones are focusing on also sniffing your browser and watching for trojans. Kapersky and NOD32 are the best in this field. If you're using Symantec or ...LOL...McAfee...bummer for you. :rotfl:

I'm shocked at all of you. Shame on thee! No one told him to run Hijack This and post a log file. If it's some of the newer crap, you might well be better off formatting the drive. Try this once and post a log file for us to see. Save it to a folder of it's own so that if you do remove something, it has a place to put the back up.

dude if you guys are using that computer for anything customer related as far as SS #'s and credit reports , etc, That machine should be wiped and reinstalled and not even used for surfing
You should back up all your documents and data to another system, wipe it out and just do a clean install of windows

Hijackthis and cwshredder are becoming useless. Its good for seeing things but it doesn't remove the really nasty stuff.Its good for outputting the log tho if you wanna help someone out. The majority of the time I get errors when I use it.

well CC #'s are nothing lately. The big thing is Identity theft. These guys can apply for credit under a persons name and get Full credit lines at addresses of their choosing. When you take a CC# you risk the chance of getting the order cancelled if its sent someplace other then the shipping address. These guys have their own address on their own personal card with YOUR name on it. All thats needed is your SS# and a few other peritinent pieces of info and boom.
