Cool to see a big name embrace this, as the idea has been out a few years, but no big company seemed to adopt it and push it. Yes they are insane for installing your OS and programs too.

ram is cheap...

a system drive that'll blow the socks off of anything available with a total cost of under $250?

Heck, I've been thinking of upgrading my amd64 3000 after the x2 3800 comes out.

I'm debating to spend the money on something like this instead. Or, I could sell my cheetah/adaptec scsi setup and run this instead.

seems like a good deal considering the speed... oh yes, the SPEED!!! (YUM-YUM)

I wouldn't even be concerned about boot times...

imagine the overall speed of your machine if the OS and some key programs are running directly from a ramdrive.

Nice article. Doesn't appear this would be worth the money to save 5 seconds on game load times.

Is this type of thing more susceptible to data corruption if some sort of power irregularity occurs moreso then regular RAM/HDD combination?
