i have a home network through a linksys wireless router, we use it to share the same internet connection however i can not seem to get it to work for file sharing and the like
i want to have it so that people on any computer can access the shared folders on other computers, map network drives to them, and so on
for some reason this does not work, it worked at one point but it broke and i dont know how or when
whenever i go into "my network places" (on any of the computers) and go into "computers near me" i can see every other computer on the network but when i try to see the shared folders it says
"\\(computername) is not accessible
the network path was not found"
same luck when i map a network drive with a proper username and password
i would REALLY appreciate help with this, ive searched google but found nothing
also, two of the computers are running xp and the other 3 are running 2000 but it does not have any effect, dosent work with either
-----*EDIT*-----
i was looking through the forums and someone having a similar problem was asked if they were running any firewalls so i thought i should add that i have zonealarm running on all 5
also, in an interesting develoment, itunes has accesed my brothers playlist and i can play his music remotley on my computer and visa versa
