Quick Firefox question...

Ok, started using this and tabbed browsing is cool. HOWEVER, when I click on a link, it opens a new window, not a new tab. I have it checked in Advanced setup to open a new tab.

Thoughts?

I would too, but when you click a link on a website, it automatically goes to "_blank" (opens a new page instead of going forward) sometimes. I want it to open a new tab instead of opening a new window.

Thoughts?

isnt that just how soem links are coded? like some follow and some launch a new window/tab. check out the tabbrowser preferences extension..that will clear up alot. plus some other cool features like change tab on mouse over. and middle click new tab or close tab

Well, they're coded to bring up a new browser. However, isn't tabs pretty much taking the place of a new window? Also, if you click a link in Firefox that is coded to bring up a new browser and you hold the CTRL button, you get it in a new tab INSTEAD of a new window.

Isn't there a place to change to ONLY open new tabs...never a new window?

well ..it looks like you need to update firefox and download the advanced tabbed browsing extension....mine looks different from the pic you posted

I had this issue also ..i posted in the software forum ..might need to update and download the extension and fiddle with the preferences .. always remember to close the browser out and re-open to see if your changes took effect

This may help you:

"Just for Single Window Mode (Tabs), you should type about:config in the Address Bar, then type SingleWindow in the filter. One line will pop up, set it to true. Now you can select 'always open links in the same window' (or something equivalent) in the Options -> Advanced menu"

I have two lines pop up when I enter SingleWindow.

Does it matter which one I change?

I would think the second option is the one you want. Of course, just change the setting to true. If that does not do it, change it back.

Yeah, mountain mentioned that, but I'm prety sure he wanted to open tabs withou to always having to hold ct.
