Need help with multiplayer call of duty
Need help with multiplayer call of duty
I just purchased a new Dell computer. Windows xp pro, sp2 installed, 3.6 ghz, 2gb ram, x850xt pe. The problem that I am having is that after I start the multiplayer game, after about 10 seconds the game freezes. It completely locks up my whole system. The only thing I can do is hard reboot with the power button. I have contacted support for the game, but you know the whole it is better to troubleshoot through email speech they give. If any of you guys have a suggestion to resolve this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Lately, that is the only game that I have been playing and it is killing me that I can't play it right now. By the way, the single player part works just fine.

I am having a similar issue with DC, POE, Doom3, CSS, anything graphic intensive that I play. Either the screen freezes as if it were a screenshot, or it just goes black. I've done clean installs, re-installed drivers, cleaned out old drivers, etc. All patches up to date, Windows updates, etc.
Was speaking with UOD the other day who had similar problems and it turned out to be a PSU for him. I'm thinking mine is the same thing, so that may be somewhere for you to start. The other thing I would check is if it is a heat related problem.
Is it just COD, or any other games do it?
I downloaded updated drivers and I installed some more automatic updates to operating system. I have not had a problem with it since yesterday morning. Also I play UT 2004 for about 2 hours last night and did not have a problem. I don't know that fixed the issue or if it is completely fixed yet. I am just happy that I am playing again. I had searched the Internet all over and it seems that most people had this problem when sp2 came out and there were compatibility problems.
