Can anybody help me PLEASE

I have 2 computers, 1 laptop and 1 desktop, these are connected to each other through a linksys befw11 s4 wireless b broadband router (wireless turned off). From the desktop side everything works ok, i can see and share files from the laptop, problem occurs on the laptop, i can see the workgroup and desktop pc in network places, but when i click to see the files ( i have filesharing enabled on both pc's) on the desktop it tells me i dont have permission. i have checked everything i can think of on the desktop pc and all looks fine, so can anybody give me some clue as to what may be the problem is ?

Both pc's have winxp sp2 loaded, i am using static ip's, and i have tested the 2 pc's with both zone alarm and windows firewall disabled.
