ATI Cat 5.3 out

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

Middle of the month is almost here, so time for the latest Cats.

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/Catalyst_53 ... notes.html

Some notes,
New version of Overdrive overclocking utility
OGL 2 support

However, quite a few new issues which those of you who game a lot may want to look at first. HL2, Farcry, COD,
MORNING WOOD Lumber Company

with this error:
# The CATALYST™ CONTROL CENTER installation currently does not check for the installation of Microsoft .Net Framework before preceding with the install, resulting in an error message being displayed when attempting to launch the CATALYST™ CONTROL CENTER. Topic number 737-10085

I'm inclined to NOT install the Catalyst Control Center enabled version.

I installed the .Net powered control center when it came out. Kinda cool, just to mess around with.

I like it as well....but they are basically saying that it's broke in this version. so I'm going to go with the non-CCC driver set this time.

With ATI PUSHING for adoption of their CCC....why bother releasing a broken driver set???? :(

Another bug? When I installed 5.1, it added ati....cli.exe "runtime" to HK_USERS and HK_LOCAL_MACHINE, which took ages for pc to startup. I disabled (using a startup manager) the one in HK_USERS as its the same "runtime" switch.

Starts up much quicker now, control centre works fine as well as games.
