Problem loading SpeedGuide.net

Post by Peter D Meredith »

Basically, IE stops responding 3 out of 5 times I attempt to access the site. And it only happens at this site. The system is as stable as can be expected. Considering it has Microsoft's latest consumer OS.

I actually leave the system on all the time. I have top quality components. I've tried various BIOS settings. "Smooth Scrolling" is disabled.

The only resolution is to perform and End Task on IE and one other program that allways seems to be running when it happens. It is only labled Mdm in Task Manager. I thought it was "Microsoft Diagnostic Manager".

Anybody got any clues as to what the problem is being caused by?

I did as you suggested. No results were returned.

I also decided to apply the VTCP.386 "fix". That does help the site load more quickly. I'll just have to wait and see if the issue returns again. :)

Well this has worked from when the old forum was up.
Right click on IE and click on properties
go to the security tab and highlight local Internet..
Click on the custom level button.
Scroll down to Active Scripting
click Disable
Scroll to Scripting of Java Applets and
Click Disable
Click on the ok
Repete the prossess with trusted sites

Besides the Vtcp.386 what else did you tweak if you haven't you might want to.

That system now has the "Web Page" tweak and the TCP/IP tweak settings from this site.

After making the changes you suggest on the primary system. I can confirm that it seems to have had a positive effect. Thank you, very much!! :)

Well I know for a fact with long time visits to other UBB boards that having the "Search" feature enabled slows everything down too.

Also many pictures in posts will also slow things down.
