95 Protege. K&N air filters have better airflow than most paper filters and can be cleaned instead of constantly changing them which is the main reason I wanted it. Its debateable on if it gives you any kind of performance gain though, what maybe 1hp at most?
Oil filters important because you dont want the thing falling apart (FRAM!?!?)

Yeah, K&N's never need to be replaced (1 Million mile guarantee), just cleaned every 50K miles. Before my intake, it's what I used, and you do get better airflow and slight gain in fuel economy. I've used it on every car I've ever owned....currently have a K&N cone on my intake, love it, loud as hell!!

I can see an advantage maybe on the air filter, but
I was gonna ask that about the oil filter! how can that be "preformance" ?
in all my years,I've never seen any brand of oil filter "fall apart" , but whatever floats you're boat.

LOL ya thats K&N's site, no biggy,I'm sure it's a great filter,I used to run k&n's in my harley.
ya still need to change a oil filter every 3k miles anyway! (IMO)
I'm not trying to be the devils advocate,(or maybe I am !LOL*
I would rather see some "splitfire" plugs in there or whatever.,for the extra money.

Bosch Platinum plugs make my car run like complete crap, who makes the splitfires?Dan wrote:LOL ya thats K&N's site, no biggy,I'm sure it's a great filter,I used to run k&n's in my harley.

I dont remember saying it was performance, oh wait I didnt. When I said fall apart people have had the internal structure of FRAM's deposit crap into the engine, or basically fail. I would have thought "in all your years" you would know that.Dan wrote:I can see an advantage maybe on the air filter, but

ok with all you're sarcasm aside,

I did'nt say YOU said performance,I was just going off of what the f****** thing says on the box. LOL
and you did say "thing falling apart",and again I will say that I've never seen a oil filter fall apart.

and all I meant in "all my years" was that I have been driving some good cars, and some POS cars ,for a long time.
I'm sure the k&n oil filter is very good and it's a good thing.
relax
