I am a newbie and at present using a sb3100 cable modem and would like to know how can I know the download and upload connection speeds. Pls help.

the easiest way to get an approximation of your connection speed it to go to http://www.dslreports.com/doconcern , and run the speed test.

there are other ways as well, but for comparative purposes, that will work fine.
