To ensure fast, reliable residential service @Home reserves the right to
manage its network as outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). The AUP
is available online at http://www.home.com/support/aup . Specifically, Cox
@Home San Diego reserves the right to monitor network usage, maintain
network access speeds for all customers and identify violations of the AUP.
The AUP also states that users must comply with the current bandwidth
limitations on the Service:
"Users must ensure that their activity does not improperly
restrict, inhibit, or degrade any other user's use of the Services, nor
represent (in the sole judgment of @Home Network) an unusually large burden
on the network itself. In addition, users must ensure that their activity
does not improperly restrict, inhibit, disrupt, degrade or impede @Home's
ability to deliver the Services and monitor the Services, backbone, network
nodes, and/or other network services."
Cox @Home San Diego limits upstream (outgoing) network traffic to 500MB in
any one 24-hour period. It has been determined that, in the vast majority
of cases, bandwidth usage in excess of that amount involves the use of a
server. Server usage is expressly prohibited by the AUP:
"You may not run a server in connection with the @Home
residential service, nor may you provide network services to others via the
@Home residential service. The @Home residential service includes personal
Webspace accounts for publishing personal Web pages. Examples of prohibited
uses include, but are not limited to, running servers for mail, http, ftp,
irc, and dhcp, and multi-user interactive forums. For information about
@Work products for commercial or network services purposes, including
commercial-grade remote LAN access, please see http://work.home.net ."
Your account has been identified as violating one or more of
the AUP paragraphs listed above during a number of 24-hour periods. This
email serves as a 72-hour notice to reduce account activity to compliant
usage levels and to remove any servers. Failure to comply with this warning
may result in temporary suspension and/or lead to service termination. For
further information you may also refer to Section 8 of the Cox
Communications Subscriber Agreement online at http://www.cox.com/CoxatHome/Agreement.asp.
Any further violation will result in immediate service
termination.

There is a reason they sent this to you.
Do you, perhaps, fall into the category that they are stating as a violation of contract?
If so, you should do what they say... turn off your servers.
Otherwise, if you really send out that much "residential" email and such. You should contact Cox @ Home and supply them with exactly what you are doing, so that they don't shut you down!
